Embracing the new season and shopping sustainably.

The weather has gone dramatically cooler to what it was only a few weeks ago. I’m thankful of it to be honest as it was becoming unbearable. The month of September is usually a busy month and this year is no different. With the weather changing this invariably means a change in wardrobe staples.

For the new season, I have so far this month done really well with buying sustainability to update my wardrobe with key pieces. This year I am trying to decide what key pieces I need first and update my wardrobe from there. My main focus in some key neutral pieces that work for the day time, school run and days at work.

I usually go through phases buying things pre-loved from Vinted, but I managed to get some Veja and New Balance nearly new trainers for a really good price. I normally buy kids pre-loved items on Vinted as it’s great for that. As kids grow so fast people sell nearly new items on there. 

I also found an eBay seller called Thrift which is incredible. There is literally so much stuff on there I was mesmerised going through the search! I didn’t know what to get to be honest as there was so much choice, but I knew I wanted to try it out!

There were endless pieces to choose from and loads of brands on there. To try it out initially I bought a light grey All Saints cardigan and a black Whistles cardigan. I also managed to struck gold with this wool and alpaca grey tonal leopard print Hobbs cardigan that I thrifted on there. It was a really good find! As well as this merino wool leopard print jumper.

I found the Whistles cardigan didn’t fit well, but fortunately it was also really easy to return it. This is the issue with buying clothes online as you can never be sure if it will fit you or suit you and then you have the inconvenience of returning it. As it was an eBay shop and it was second hand clothing I was a bit reluctant at first. This is obviously why Amazon is so popular I think as it’s usually hassle free. I was thinking that it might be tricky sending back second hand items but I didn’t have any problems so I would definitely give it another go. I didn’t pay more than £20 for any of these so all in all there was some amazing savings to be had.

When I was younger I was really into vintage clothes and this is a bit of a second iteration of that. If you have the time and inclination this is a good way to update your wardrobe with some great pieces for a fraction of the price. My advice is to pick something that will add some value to your wardrobe and shop in the same way you would if you were heading straight to the high street. Look for
