The wonder of Portmerion

In the summer we visited North Wales for a week staying in Porthmadog and on our travels we took a day trip to Portmerion. Portmerion is a lovely place inspired by an Italian style village. We were very fortunate it was a lovely sunny day and the colours were amazing in the slight. It has a slightly surrealist atmosphere especially with the large chess board.

Apparently a programme called ‘The Prisoner’ was filmed there but I have never seen it or had heard of it before but it was obviously of note. Do be aware there was an entrance fee into Portmerion, you can’t just go and visit. I don’t think it’s that obvious unless you realise it is essentially a tourist attraction now.

If you are ever in North Wales and you are inspired by architecture, it’s worth checking out for a visit. You can read more about it here
