Upcycling with Frenchic paint

What could be better than using paint called Frenchic? It seems perfectly named for me and my sensibilities. I had a little bit of time to do it so I thought, brilliant – lets go ahead. I have used this paint before in a previous home where I used it to paint our kitchen cupboards, that were perfectly fine but needed updating.

There was a couple of tired looking items in our house that were in good condition but needed changing or updating, so I decided that a bit of upcycling was in order.

It’s actually really lovely paint and very durable so I was excited to try and use it again. Frenchic paint is reasonably expensive for the size of it, but it is good quality and it lasts a long time. You have enough in the tin to paint a few things, so a little goes a long way. It is certainly less costly than replacing a large pieces of your furniture, so it’s worth giving it a go.

A couple of furniture items in the bedroom, one was a large set of draws and a cupboard in the hall way and the garden shed. I decided to paint them grey which I know is not as fashionable as it was a couple of years ago, but it fits in with my home and current scheme which is mostly neutral with a hint of colour. I also think grey is lovely with green.

I decided to go with City Slicker Al Fresco for my furniture which can be used indoors and outdoors and Smudge Al Fresco for my shed which is a darker shade of grey. It really didn’t take that long to do, just a bit of organisation and readjusting. You don’t even need to do any real preparation so its perfect for someone like me who wants to ‘get on with it’!

(Before – it was looking a bit tired and in need of repair in the alcove but I wanted to upcycle it rather than replace it as it was still actually very usable. The draws are not actually, they are just not in properly!)

(After – the result was so much better in grey!) . I just need to do something with the handles now, maybe some gold paint to match the other ones in the bedroom?

It is surprisingly quick to do and I was very happy with the result. I can’t wait to do the rest of my garden too this summer. I would recommend giving Frenchic a try before you replace your furniture.
